What is Tapping?

Emotional Freedom Techniques also known as Tapping is a therapeutic opportunity to live a freer, happier life! 

Whilst seemingly simple it's effects go deep, allowing issues to be resolved on the physical (somatic), emotional and energetic levels.

Working on energetic levels using the body's meridians, very clear and distinct changes are often achieved within a surprisingly short timescale. At the same time how we think about things also often changes. 





How does it work?

 There is a link between our energy system and the way we think and feel. 
 
All negative emotions come with a disruption to the body's energy system - that when we feel a difficult or upsetting emotion, at the same time our energy system is affected. 

If a difficult emotion and an energy system imbalance occur concurrently then  improving one will improve the other. 

Tapping is very good at balancin the energy system in ordeer to improve how we think and feel!

The process involves tapping on specific meridian points on the face and body. Meridians are energy channels running throughout the body which connect to our organs and feed into the overall health of our bodies. Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners have been working with the meridians for thousands of years. 

Acupuncture works to restore health by the use of needles. Whereas Tapping creates little vibrations which go along the meridians and provides a more gentle overall stimulus for the energies to move through and rebalance. At the same time any emotional disturbance that we are focussing on has the opportunity to release and shift, having first identified it and rated it's impact. 

When releasing energy associated with something traumatic we work extremely gently, for example by taking the edge off before even starting to look at it to ensure that you remain in control, comfortable and grounded at all times.

It is very safe, very gentle and very effective.



What can I expect to gain?

Feeling better! 
Resolution of issues! 

As we tap we usually experience our thinking and feeling changing. 

Often insights will arise during the process and when something is fully resolved there will often be a significant sense of relief!
 
We can therefore expect to experience insight, emotional relief and positive change in our lives.

You can expect the results to be long-lasting. In other words, when something is fully resolved and the emotional charge has gone, then it's gone! 

You will also learn and practice using the Tapping techniques as an important self-help tool.




It's worth noting that if you're someone who doesn't relate to "energies" or anything else I've said, there is no need to believe in it for it to work! 

If you are wanting to make a shift or a change in one or more areas of your life then I promise you that this is worth a go! Each person relates to their experiences in their own unique ways and how you experience something and how that is changing during a session is all that matters.





What does it work on?

Tapping can work to provide relief and awareness in nearly every area of life. 

In my experience, Tapping doesn't just work to process through what's conscious and obvious. It's a process of self-exploration and can become a meditative-like process. 

As things on the surface are acknowledged and understood it allows space for more things to arise from the subconscious. In this way things can be followed through to reveal insights. It can help you to understand your patterns in the present and it can free you up to make more balanced and harmonious choices for yourself in your future.  


That being said, some examples are as follows. Tapping works very well:
 
- To process through and release difficult feelings, traumas and memories from the past.

- To enhance life by removing blocks to reaching your goals. These blocks might be mental or emotional, conscious or currently unconscious.

- To address physical pain. When we have pain there is usually an emotional element. 
Acute: Balancing the energy system through Tapping can remove acute pain surprisingly quickly. 
Chronic: For chronic pain Tapping can help. For example by addressing the emotional elements of having chronic pain, releasing any traumas stored in the body memory and to address any other issues in life which may be making life more difficult, consciously or unconsciously.

- To support someone with chronic fatigue. Tapping can help to free up energy from the past which might subconsciously be taking up precious resources.



I enjoy working with anyone wanting to make a change. Be that how they feel about themselves, how they feel in relation to a particular person, issue or memory, or anyone wanting to bring about positive changes in their lives.

I particularly enjoy working with people who are or consider themselves to be neurodivergent and/or who have complex PTSD or ADHD.



Why have sessions with a practitioner?

For the support and the effectiveness of using the techniques. 
For your experiences to be respectfully held by me and witchessed.
To allow you to relax and not have to think about what you are doing in terms of the process as I will be doing that for you, and instead you can be present with whats arising and what's changing.

Studies have shown that Tapping with a practitioner is more effective than Tapping on your own. 


When I've been working with someone for a while my aim is to make sure you have a thorough grasp of using the techniques by yourself so you can process through things on your own. When it's done well, surprising things may be revealed from your subconscious. 

Anything which feels overwhelming or emotional can then be addressed by the actual Tapping which processes the energies through. That said, for any issues which are more serious or complex, having the support of a qualified practitioner or other healthcare practitioner is recommended.



How do I book a session?

If you'd like to try Tapping then text call or email me whichever you prefer. 

Sessions online are £45 for 1 hour via zoom.

Sessions in person (in Leeds, UK) are £55 for 1 hour.

I'm generally available Monday to Friday, 11am to 8pm UK time but if you'd prefer a time outside of this then please let me know.
